Craig Sumner Professional Debut on Kieran Farrell Promotions show
Craig Sumner begins his professional boxing career winning his professional debut against 30 year old journeyman Luke Middleton W2 L10. Middleton coming in as a much heavier last minute replacement to face Sumner on Kieran Farrell Promotions show on a sold out 14 fight card at Bolton Football Ground. In the 4 round contest, Sumner started slowly but warmed into the fight displaying good defensive and footwork skills. In the 3rd and 4th round Sumner began to put his combinations together landing some good flurries. The referee scored the contest 39-37 in Sumner's favour. Head Coach of Kingscote Boxing Ed Harrison said "Craig only had a quick warm up and then we got rushed down to the ring. Usually Craig would have a long warm up, that's why he started off slowly. It's only his first fight. It was a really good learning fight and we both learned a lot. Craig sold around 100 tickets and the support was amazing. We would like to thank David Oakes of Highfeild Tanning for providing Craig's boxing kit. We would also like to thank the gym sponsors, Discount Tyres Blackpool and Offcial Walkston. And a big thanks to Kieran and Amy Farrell for putting on a fantastic show.
